Seafront issues

The society believes that access to the sea especially for sea swimming could be much improved. There are many examples from the past where this was possible, for example, by direct access to deep water from the West Pier, or by pontoons in the sea during summers. The society will be lobbying for such better access where opportunities arise.

In 2019 we started to work with West Hove Seafront Action Group, which focuses on improvements to the area between King Alfred and the Lagoon. That work is expected to result in a practical plan for the future of the area for the benefit of local residents and visitors alike.

The society also believes that the high quality of seafront furniture needs to be maintained to the highest possible standard and our members make regular inspections to identify any cases of vandalism or neglect. If you wish to participate in this activity or inform us about any issues about the seafront please send your comments to info@hovecivicsociety.org
