Following the meeting there will be a talk by Cllr Bella Sankey, Leader of Brighton and Hove City Council about the new administration and how the public realm and environment in Hove could be improved.

Our annual forum will focus on the power of art in transforming townscapes, new public art in Hove and national policy and advise on how to reunite art and planning at the local level. Presentations by Katy Lock from Town and Country Planning Association; Richard Wolfströme, consultant to Moda Hove Public Art Strategy; and Karin Janzon, lead on Hove Plinth, followed by discussion.

This talk by Geoff Mead will look at Brighton before leisure pursuits and the royal family stamped that image on the place; a town of fishermen and small farmers on an unforgiving storm-wracked coast with steep hills as its backdrop. We look at the physical landscape of chalk downlands and shingle shorelines and why, even pre George IV it was an important town.
